Today, 8th November 2025 we solemnly honor the life of Mrs. Mary Edeh, a remarkable woman whose legacy as an ambassador of girl education and a pillar of strength will forever inspire us. Through her unwavering commitment, even in the midst of a lot of life and family tribulations she educated her five children ( all girls) to the highest levels, each achieving
master’s degrees—a true testament to her dedication and belief in the power of education.
Mrs. Edeh instilled in her children not only academic excellence but also strong morals and discipline, shaping them into individuals of integrity and purpose they are today. Her resilience was unmatched; despite the challenges of raising and training her children alone, she never wavered in her determination.
At an adult age, she herself pursued higher education, entering the university and graduating with commendable grades. A feat very difficult to achieve while combining it with following her children's education at the same period.
As a mathematics teacher, Mrs. Edeh dedicated her life to nurturing young minds, imparting knowledge and inspiring countless students until her retirement. Her journey is a beacon of hope and a powerful example of perseverance, courage, and love.
Mrs. Mary Edeh’s life reminds us that with faith, hard work, and resilience, barriers can be overcome and dreams fulfilled. She was not just a mother and educator but a great inspiration to all who knew her.
Anytime you met her she showed love and friendship with her charming and captivating smiles and voice which transmitted pure love.
I met her exactly a year ago in the United Kingdom at the baptism of her grandchildren (the triplets of her daughter married to Dr Ugo) .We spent the whole evening talking. She told me something that was not just consolatory but a great lesson. Madame Mary said “Charlie ,I know the death of your younger sister years ago devastated you a lot,let all of us honour her by following and fulfilling her dreams and purposes which were loving and helping others, and by doing that we may heal our pains”.
Today, I repeat her words to all who mourn her. i.e to alleviate our pains by continuing with her legacy.
Mrs. Mary Edeh’s life stands as a powerful inspiration—a testament to strength, determination, and the enduring value of education.
As we bid her farewell today, we honor her legacy and pray that her spirit continues to inspire future generations.
May the soul of our beloved Mrs Mary EDEH rest in peace.
